Elections of new officers shall take place in April of each academic year.
Any member who has attended at least three meetings of COG may run for office. This includes any official Task Force meetings or meetings of the Board of Directors.
- All election balloting shall take place by secret instant-runoff vote at a meeting of the Board of Directors. In order to prevent elections abuse, members must be present to vote and may not vote by proxy.
- Candidates shall be given the right to speak for an equal amount of time prior to balloting.
- Votes shall be tallied by the presiding Executive Officer in view of the membership.
Any member may propose an amendment to this Constitution.
- Proposed amendments to this Constitution shall be presented in writing to the Secretary.
- The Secretary shall announce proposed amendments to the membership through the ``cog-announce'' mailing list.
- Proposed amendments shall be presented at the next meeting of the Board of Directors by the author(s), be subject to debate by the Board, and then voted upon by the membership in a secret ballot.
